I'm using sips 10.4.4 on Leopard.

The man page might have been corrected but "satuation" is still buried in there somewhere:

strings /usr/bin/sips | grep satu

Color match image to profile with rendering intent perceptual | relative | saturation | absolute.
perceptual | relative | saturation | absolute
saturation
satuation
