Geeez - isn't that kind of a broad brush. Perhaps in the rapid evolution of software and hardware, there have been glitches between the two, however, to brand Epson's drivers as "lousy" is kinda wide, don't you think? While I have always had a lot respect for HP's office products (lasers and drafting plotters), where were they not that long ago when the only solution for our digital art and photo needs was a $150,000.00 IRIS? At least for me, Epson's drivers have typically performed well, when properly and well profiled. And yes, it would be nice if their drivers handled all situations for which specialty RIPS are needed such as postscript files, press proofing, and direct CMYK applications, but then I am afraid many would be paying a lot more for features that are not needed or tailored for their specific needs.
