Andrew,
I find that Photoshop's "black point compensation" in combination with
"simulate paper white" works very well for this purpose and leaves me
needing only one monitor profile. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on
the use of black point compensation when soft-proofing vs. multiple monitor
profiles with various contrast ratios.
