Hello list, hello Andy and Craig
I think the actual concept of the ICC Print Reference Medium Gamut is a
first small step in direction of workflows for predictable perceptual
gamutmapping, if source and target-profiles from different vendors are
combined in a workflow.
My private roadmap in research is as follow:
1) Create virtual RGB characterization-data, which represent the ICC
Print Reference Medium gamut (a quite good alpha-version is ready, which
has been tested from ICC working group responsible for the PRMG)
2) Calculate an ICCv4 LUT profile based on data with smallest files size
as possible
(This profile should work as an RGB-working-space representing the PRMG)
3) Build a test file with images and RGB-patches for color-measuring on
printed output
4) Define a testprocedure based on image evaluation and colormeasurement
based on the test file
5) Generate output profiles with differnt profiling packages for some
standard printing conditions (FOGRA, GRACoL, SWOP, EpsonK3 with defined
media)
6) Compare the results with the different profiles according the test
procedure.
If anyone is interested in this project, just contact me. For further
dicussions, I recommend the ICC users mailinglist.
Regards
Jan-Peter
