OK, I am a CM novice, by the standards of this group. But, I do have a question.
I have been using Apple displays for many years, and I calibrate them now with the X-Rite Eye One system - D65 an 2.2. I also make profiles for my papers and inks with my Epson wide format printers, and I made a profile for my Better Light digital scan back that I use for art reproduction. So far, all is well.
But, one of my monitors is an Apple Cinema Display 23", one of the early ones with pink edges and "ghosting." I replaced it with a NEC LCD2690WUXI-BKSV. It comes with the SpectraView II color management software, and an X-Rite Eye One Display 2 sensor. I use it with a Mac Pro, on 10.5.2.
I ran the calibration with the Spectraview software - The Display configuration dialog does not work with Macs and I had to choose between several canned settings:
Print Standard White point D50 Gamma 1.8
Broadcast Video White point D65 Gamma 2.2
Monitor Standard White point 9300 Gamma 1.8
To match the previous settings I used with X-Rite Eye-One Match, I chose Broadcast Video -because it has D65 and a 2.2 Gamma - but the brightness was way too bright. I tried the Print setting - and it was too dark - and also D50.
Does anyone know how to tweak Spectraview II on a Mac?
Should I forget the NEC hardward calibration and go back to my Eye One Match on the NEC?
