X-rite claims a fairly small delta-E between similar x-rite
instruments. This spec should be in your documentation-- usually on
a single sheet of paper, in there somewhere. "inter- instrument
agreement"
My Spectrolino sheet states, average inter-instrument agreement: .3
dE , maximum 0.8 dE
An ES-1000 spec sheet stated, avg inter-instrument agreement dE
0.4 , maximum dE 1.0
A few years ago, I checked a reasonable sample of X-Rite's stuff
(Digital swatchbook, DTP41, and a few assorted handhelds in the
pressroom) and given the wide range of ages and devices, the agreement
between all was amazing- ISTR less than 2 dE76, at worst, across a
range of 24 swatches. I was suitably impressed!
Is your EyeOne the "odd man out" on these measurements? ie: do you
have 3 instruments saying one thing, and this one is off by a
significant amount?
variation of dE > 4 between two identical instruments is a lot, in my
limited experience. Especially in light of the stated
specification. Were both of yours calibrated successfully on their
correct white targets?
I have never sent in for factory recalibration. I would be very
interested to know exactly what is involved with this process, what
is checked, how things are adjusted, etc. Or is it just zeroed in
on a new white patch?
This was probably of no help whatsoever.

I think you might want to check it against another EyeOne, or at least
against something else made by the old Gretag (not an old Xrite
instrument).
No one wants to say how measurements from instruments from different
companies compare.

Hi,
Did someone here tried to open a support ticket with Xrite
recently? I
believe my eye-one pro (now called eye-one design) needs a factory
recalibration (I`m getting 4 delta-e difference in some patches
between the
eye-one and other instruments) and I called Xrite for help. I
opened a
support ticket yesterday morning (GMT-3) but I got no answer until
now. In
the old Gretagmacbeth days, they always answered in few hours...
As I don`t have an official answer, I'll have to ask here. Did
someone
performed this "factory recalibration" with Xrite ? IMHO, 4 delta-e
is too
much for a "normal" inter-instrument agreement. Any comments?
Best regards,
Lorenzo
