Would that provide a pacifier to the user, or would it actually pass muster with comparable professional-level tools and standards? If the pass/fail is not rigorous enough to meet industry standards, what good would it be? It would give the user an illusion of safety, but it may not meet the needed requirements.

Sorry to be such a party-pooper, but if a spectro is good enough to read patches accurately enough, it may as well be good enough to create profiles too -- no?

Because there are many possible scenarios, and the tolerances themselves are often changeable and hard to pin down.
