Hello Group,
FWIW, I work in an art college where LCD projectors are integral to
teaching. It is critical to the faculty and students that the color
they see on the lab of 30+ Apple Cinema Displays closely match both
each other and the teacher's projector.
I've repeatedly used CEDP and either an i1Pro and Beamer, or a DTP 94
to successfully generate profiles for both the projector (ranging from
Canon Realis to Epson and NECs) and the teaching ACD. The DTP 94 is a
less elegant solution than the Beamer, but works nonetheless if taped
to the back of something like a chair or mic stand so that it stays
put. My only suggestion with the DTP 94 is to keep it fairly close to
the screen (I use it at around 6 feet) depending on the lighting
conditions in the room.
Although I do not profile in mirror mode, we do utilize the profiles
this way after they are generated. I've only ever experienced issues
with mirror mode when I created profiles using i1Match, although I was
later able to resolve these issues also.
I've recently acquired a Spyder 3 which came with a stand and I'm
curious to see if it will also work, as the stand is nicer than duct
tape. ;)
Regards,
-Kristy

Just so I understand Scott, you're talking about taking the Optix/
DTP94, placing it at the projection screen and facing it back
towards the projector to get get measurements using CEDPro?
Interesting.
Yes, it is pretty interesting - try it out! You can do what you've
described with several colorimeters and packages if you have a long
enough cord.
I've also been able to point it toward a screen from 20-30 feet
away, just like I would with the beemer. A dark room is critical
since the focus isn't as tight as with the beemer.
Either way, this technique is definitely monkey business, LOL! Fun
for us geeks but not recommended for the casual user...
