Open up your MX4 and look at the dE stats and you'll probably find

There's a couple of ways you might be able to improve things; 1) use
a much larger chart (4,000+ patches) to build the gamut file for the
MX4 or 2) you may have to modify your starting MX3 files. Look at
the Printer Gradation values in the MX3 calibration file you're
using and see if the magenta channel is maxed out to 100%.
Just because I'm using GMG paper... :-)
Whenever I hear "MX4" I reach for my revolver!
GMG are the new DuPont as far as I'm concerned. I was really hoping
that using the FOGRA media wedge would mean that we could move away
from proprietary "standards".
But all that has happened in the UK is the production staff at the
magazines have gone from looking for the DuPont Digital Cromalin logo
and a bit of text about CP2 curves to looking for a GMG logo and a bit
of text about an MX4 curve.
The measurements are meaningless -- it's the logo that counts!
Anybody who dares to proof on other systems gets a whining email from
the publication about how the proofs don't reach their
"standards" (not that they even have the ability or the kit to measure
them) and the threat of additional charges for re-proofing the job at
their end.
Dunno why I bothered investing the time and the technology to do this
stuff. It'd be easier to fake up the GMG media information :-(
[FYI I use EFI Colorproof XF v3.1]
