I've been trying out the demo of the most recent version of Silverfast
AI Studio (6.6r2) with a Nikon V film scanner. It seems to offer no
control over exposure. Have I missed something? I've looked through
the Options menu and examined all the little buttons on the left side
of the window. Is it applying auto exposure to each new scan, or does
it always set a single exposure? If the former, I don't see how it's
possible to profile with any degree of certainty.
I couldn't use Auto IT8 with the demo (aside from that one feature,
the demo is supposedly fully fuctional), but if exposure control isn't
exposed anywhere in the program, it makes me wonder how Auto IT8 deals
with it, at least for Nikon scanners.
Vuescan, on the other hand, gives complete control over exposure,
allowing you to change it manually, lock it, or tweak it on a per
channel basis.
