I recognize that the notion of a "false profile" is anathema to some
on this list, and I do not wish to start any conflicts. But I want to
change the document gamma via edit>convert to profile and have not
been able to do so in a manner which makes such a setting part of the
operable listing available in this command. In brief, I can change
the gamma of a document in color settings by changing the gamma of,
e.g., Adobe RGB from 2.2 to, e.g., 1.5. This has an immediate affect
on the document, and if the new setting is named "gamma 1.5" it will
appear in the profile list available in edit>convert to profile. If,
however, I close that document, or close Photoshop, and subsequently
open another document in Adobe RGB whose gamma I want to change to
1.5, the edit>convert to profile>gamma 1.5 is inoperative, i.e., it
does nothing. I'd really appreciate someone helping me to
troubleshoot this problem; I'm working in CS2 on a Mac using
OS10.5.6. Your comments and help will be greatly appreciated.
