Thanks Scott,
So, no accessible internal LUT on this display but someone, very
knowledgeable in the field of display engineering, was telling me, recently,
that all LCD monitors have some form of internal LUTs built it: how else
would the OSD be able to adjust the brightness, contrast and gains?
Well, Im not surprised CEDP has an iterative gradient smoothing function,
these guys are always on top of their art thanks Derrick and Jack ;-)

Shame on me. I tought all that was required was the DisplayPort connector?
Brightness settings are communicated via the USB port and there can be
issues with some USB configurations. Controlling the brightness and iSight
cameras separately when multiple Cinema displays are used is also
problematic. Along with the double profiling ColorSync bug Apple's got a
little work to do.
And if they would offer an anti-glare museum glass option on all their pro
display products it would make a lot of geeks happy.
This being said, if I may ask, what do you mean by control the hardware
brightness via DDC? Is it known that this monitor has some internal
hardware LUT?
No internal LUT, but those apps are smart about adjusting the brightness
setting to achieve a desired luminance. I'm pretty impressed with CEDP's
smoothing of gradients on displays without an internal LUT. Their iterative
process (that continues to tweak each step until a tolerance is met) is the
key.
