Turns out once I plugged in the USB cable in, System Preferences showed the
Brightness slider... Same implementation as in the ACD 30". I should have
known better.
BTW, that monitor, despite what I would call "control limitations", is
surprisingly accurate. Wish it was a wide-gamut monitors though, only
946,000 deltaE3. Still, it holds its own against a slew of high end units
extremely well. Very little viewing angles issues, if any. Dazzingly bright
and very well-behaved. Amazing.
Do we know anything about the life span of LED edge lights compared to
CCFLs? I'm just concerned about prematurely wearing them out by driving them
at 350 cd/m2, 40 hours a week, year round.
Also, anyone worked around the glare issues? I found that, when driven close
to their maximum brightness, the glare is somewhat reduced. It is still
there, but it seems less bothering. The ideal is to have a piece of black
velvet behind you. But how practical is that? Or reduce the level of ambient
lighting. At 32 Lux, it is quite manageable...
