Mr. Sweat,
Yes, they do have a larger gamut than the previous inkset.

No offense intended, but it's *color constancy* problems that you are
referring to here (color appearing to shift under different illuminants).
"Metamerism" is another thing altogether, and actually a *good* thing, which
doesn't deserve all the negative inferences that have been leveled at it
lately.

The ColorSync Utility does not show 3D profile gamut plots accurately.
Instead of showing the true *device gamut* (which must always be done in the
Absolute Colorimetric intent), it shows the profile as viewed through the
Perceptual intent (with both white and black points scaled to Lab white and
black, plus an unrealistic bloating of the profile's gamut as per the
perceptual intent's own gamut mapping). It beats me why ColorSync Utility
shows the profile in this type of 3D plot, which is both unreliable and very
misleading.
Use ColorThink Pro instead. I don't have any financial interest in Chromix:
I only recommend it because it's a superlative tool for professional-level
color management review and inspection tasks. Its 3D profile plots are very
accurate depictions of the device gamut.

It's all because of ColorSync Utility's very misguided use of the perceptual
intent in its 3D plots. You simply cannot trust them to be reliable
depictions of the device's true gamut.
