Maybe that's another problem as well. The problem I've seen
is that the the dark readings are pretty inconsistent. For instance,
if I try and measure my CRT's black several times I
get the following XYZ numbers:
0.050 0.009 0.299
-0.037 0.060 0.048
0.009 0.005 0.113
-0.035 0.057 0.044
By contrast, the Spyder 2 gets:
0.098 0.077 0.061
0.097 0.077 0.061
0.097 0.076 0.063
0.102 0.077 0.067
Not too bad.
[The above is using the manufacturers supplied drivers
for these instruments. Stepping outside this and using
longer integration times for the Spyder 3 improves its
situation.]
Given the typically poor blacks on LCD's, maybe this isn't
an issue for the Spyder 3 for most users, although the introduction
of LCD displays using dynamic LED backlighting ("BrightSide"
HDR technology), may disturb that comfort.
