That surprises me a bit Scott as I've found the opposite to be true....thicker than about 18 micron canvas is a crap shoot on the DTP70 but the iSis seems to handle the thicker materials just fine. I think one key is the fact that the iSis has a more "positive" feed mechanism (heavy stainless rollers riding on the media and drive rollers) while the DTP70's feed mechanism seems to built poorly, especially the top "rollers" with their flimsy spring mechanism.

I agree about the iSis's improved feed mechanism - its much better on slick materials than can slip on the 70. The 70 requires "babysitting" during measurement for sure. But the 70's silly spring loaded approach allows it to take on thicker materials than the iSis can dream of. Now, many people (especially those in prepress) won't ever see the really thick materials that fine art inkjet printmakers often deal with. 18 micron thicknesses? I regularly see and measure 457 to 787 micron thickness (16-31 mil) products that get even thicker with lamination. The creator of the iSis, Mario Offermann, told me it was never intended it to be used with such materials. The iO table was intended for thicker materials but for someone who who is on the road constantly, the portability and versatility of the DTP70 is nice, at least for now.

Seems like the iSis could be updated for thicker media support. That and smaller headers and footers would make it more attractive for my business. Cheers.

Well, I don't know about you Scott, but I'm junking all my fast auto- spectros and going back to The Most Versitale Spectro of All Time: the Spectrolino/Spectroscan.

My new business model is to print and measure multiple 5,000+ patch targets and average the data....and charge by the hour. With the Spectroscan, that should turn around my cash flow problem in NO TIME!

:-)
