Not that you could do much with it anyway, other than some very basic and
somewhat crude operations.

That's a heck of a claim, James. Be sure of it before you say it with too
much confidence.

Redundant for YOU and what your intents are, perhaps. Yes, possibly. It all
depends on what your demands are.

You may want to consider this: how much time, money and effort do you expend
in using workarounds and buying cheaper software? In the end, does it really
represent a gain? The answer to that is for you to consider and find out.
Yes, Photoshop would cost more, but you wouldn't need to go through all
these hoops any longer. Yes, even with an older version, if that seems more
appealing -- though the longer one uses better tools, the more one longs to
get one's hands on even better ones.
