Thomas, thank you for making this image available.
Sure.
I have been using the Thomas Holm test image for several years to
evaluate print profiling software and spectros, and to check my own
software settings and my own profiles. I must have printed several
hundred sheets of the thing.
The Pixl Testimage been downloaded just over 18.000 times so you're
likely not the only one. In addition several companies have licensed
it for commercial use and /or internal testing and for demonstrating
their high-end color devices.
Any problem in the print chain -eg double profile application or a
defective spectro - can be detected visually by this image once you
are accustomed to it.
It's also useful when evaluating monitors.
After getting my first High-Gamut monitor (Quato IntelliProof 260
Excellence) I discovered things in the image I had never seen before
as they are out of regular monitors gamut.
This test image is thus invaluable - however there are days when I
think a larger hi-rez version would be even more useful.
Look again at the 2009 version. It's both in higher resolution and
annotated so new users are clued in on what to look for.

I sometimes print several images across (composite image in native
printer space), with mirror images, and concertina-fold in order to
facilitate comparison.

As someone else said download a reference image and evaluate this.
I actually built the pixl testimage (www.pixl.dk > downloads) when an
otherwise popular monitor calibration company launched an
"improved" puck
after forming a strategic alliance with someone else.
Shortly after this my remote printer profiles (which I don't build
any more)
frequently were rejected by customers as not matching the print.
After building something that can be used as a common reference,
and on
which it is easy to figure out whether it is displayed correctly or
not,
it's pretty easy to evaluate - within reason - whether the monitor /
calibrator puck / calibration software / printer profile / color
conversion
is good - or not.
The Pixl Testimage 2009 version is annotated for each part of the
image, so
open the image in Photoshop and open the notes window for a
walkthrough of
all the elements.
Hope this helps.

Hi group. Recenlty bought a 7900 and after profiling the printer and
monitor (x-rite) I'm getting prints that are consistantly too dark

Eizo not
to be much tighter. I'm not a prepress person or someone with a
