Are any of these 'color servers' (GMG, Oris, Alwan, etc.) doing to
files anything more than applying static link profiles?
I mean, I understand there's the functionality of building and
tweaking those profiles, and there's where they differ from each other
in functionality and quality achieved. But after the parameters have
been defined and the links built (proprietary or otherwise), the
day-to-day usage is just applying those profiles to the PDF files fed,
right? there's no per-image of per-file color optimization of any
other kind, is there?
So if you have a super-pro version of any of these apps, which allow
you to export (to standard ICC link profiles) the link profiles it has
built... then you could use Apago's PDF Optimizer program ($350 !) to
apply them to your files in a hot-folder workflow...
(or if Eric had finished and released Ultralinks...)
