Well they are pretty cool but I'd call them evolutionary while the competition isn't evolving. Custom measured displays is not a new concept. Apple's ColorSync displays did this, for example. But for an out of the box experience without a colorimeter, I think it's what the market wants and needs. Something that just works.
There is a feature in Multiprofiler I haven't yet tried out, but if you're a Lightroom user, worth checking out. There is a way to load a printer profile (output device profile) and the software builds a new "calibration" table that it uploads to the display to make it simulate your printer. So possibly a way to do soft proofing in applications that don't specifically have soft proofing built into them.
