Hi Andy,
the definition I would use is "Correcting the instrument reflectance
readings so that the effect of the FWA/OBE is as if the media had been
measured under the actual viewing illuminant. This then means that
predictions made from the measurement (by multiplying the corrected
media
reflectance by the viewing illuminant spectrum) correspond to the
actual
appearance under the viewing illuminant".
Are there any other definitions that make sense ?
in order to claim that you need to know the spectral absorption of the
ink and the screening. So based on the information normally available
you must assume a lot and I would only talk about abridged solutions.
But generally I agree with the definition (seeing the issue that then
measurement data will vary with each viewing condition) and people
should be able to identify if the correction also applies for their
individual needs ...
sincerely
Andy
Graeme.
