The only known similar bug is a third party server that fails to copy files
in some instances and has issues managing file permissions.
Photoshop does a "safe save" so no file should ever be lost unless there is
a major fault in the OS, disk, or server.

You are saving to an appleshare network server, probably on a third
party implementation (see above). There are reasons why we say not to do
that: buggy server software, bugs in the OS, etc. We can't control the
network or server, and have seen too many difficult to diagnose issues
saving across networks (despite years testing our own file saving code to
make sure it is safe).
