Mac Holbert is spot on. I've got 2 9900's, two 7900's, two 7880's and about a dozen 4880's, none of which exhibit this problem-- unless the user specs the page and margin sizes wrong. I would not mind being corrected, but this really sounds like a classic case of operator error.
Create a custom sheet size and set your leading edge (bottom) margin to .56" (NO LESS!) and your trailing (top) to the same. Your minimum L and R margins can be 1/8" or 3mm. I always set them to 1/4". I don't mean to be insulting, but make sure your properly sized image fits within the live area of your sheet (i.e. within the margins.)
I have been working with Macs, Epson Stylus Pro printers, and Photoshop ever since the days of the Epson 3000. Always made a successful transition through each hardware/software iteration with non of the glitches people have complained about on this list, and I run a tightly-controlled, professionally color-managed, closed-loop facility. My secret? RTFM, and follow the instructions.
Excelsior.

But its certainly a tiny, unheard group considering how many such printers are out there, how many people post to appropriate lists on the topic and so on.

If you set your margins in your custom setup incorrectly and the printer senses you're trying to print an image larger than the available space it prints a smaller version. This happened to Steve Gorman a couple of weeks ago.Check margins and insure that the combined image size and margins do not exceed the paper height and width.
