I have one or more different "use cases" than others. That is probably true
for many or most of us on this list.
For example, I use PTGui to make panos. I've found it productive to use
CS-ACR for p.p. like the equivalent of "Recovery".
Even if there are no ACR blinkies in any of the 2 to 100+ RAW images used to
generate tif/jpg's going into PTGUI, there are typically blinkies in the
rendered pano saved in TIFF, not PSD. Not sure why. My bad? Poor craftsman?
My experience is that it is easier to use CS-ACR than PS in this situation.
