Hi Martin,
X-Rite's i1Profiler is displaying the same behavior regardless of the datasets.
Just check the dark end of the tonal range in any i1Profiler-created profile.
Sooner or later the yellow curve makes a downturn. When there is a strong
presence of black, yellow is reduced. With M1 data grabbed from a high OBA
paper, yellow appears "more yellow" then what it really is and the black has a
virtual yellowness (apparently this is how they appear to the profiling
package), when combined, they send yellow down to the point of extinction. But
even with M2 data that contains no trace of OBA, i1Profiler reduces yellow in
the extreme dark end of the tonal range. A profiling package should be able to
create near-G7 CMY builds even when there is a strong black "under" them (black
always prints "first"). This should at least be available as a user selectable
function.
My recent tests indicate that the good old ProfileMaker v5 is the best behaving
package of them all. Starting from a G7 grayscale calibrated profiling chart,
all datasets (M0-M1-M2) create profiles that have balanced CMY grays in
perceptual and RelCol+BPC intents.

"merciful" against yellow, but they all reduce it is to some extent when they
are using the FOGRA52 dataset.

I reported this to X-Rite as a bug back in August 2017.
They acknowledged that the profiles created from the 52 data had “quality
issues", but said that a solution would require significant work on their
i1Prism engine.
Haven’t seen an update, so maybe they are waiting/hoping for 52 to get
dropped :)
