That's another cake. With panning you can map the movement with the
mouse (visible on the interface) to the real world as
front/back/sideways.
However this does not look like a knob you must turn, it's more a
position in a 2D space you change.

Even with a small circle it is more a sliding than the idea of
rotating. It is important that you see how you should handle when you
want to change a value (pan in this case).
