I see all the appropriate notifications being set to all the apps when I change the default device with AMS. Indeed, iTunes responds by happily switching to the newly chosen device. The notification would be one of kAudioHardwarePropertyDefaultInputDevice, kAudioHardwarePropertyDefaultOutputDevice, or kAudioHardwarePropertyDefaultSystemOutputDevice, depending on which device changed.

Is there are particular situation where things aren't working for you?
