Sorry to be a bit grumpy about this, but when I look at the developer
site at Apple, I get the feeling that Cocoa is taking a back seat (and
not just for audio). I think that this is a major mistake.

I've voiced my complaints on this list regarding Carbon. It was
disappointing to hear that new APIs from Apple were being developed
based on Carbon, with no Cocoa accessibility. As an extra complaint, I
was particular disappointed to see that the latest CoreAudio SDK has
example apps using a simple C++ application framework, instead of the
feature-rich Cocoa!
And on the Carbon-Dev list virtually the opposite has being said, that
Apple is pushing Cocoa and ignoring Carbon. The reality is that neither
framework does everything, nor has all the functionality available in
the OS - yet - and until they do there will be places where each is
ahead of the other. Today Carbon is ahead in support for AudioUnits, so
if you are coding today, you might as well learn Carbon unless you are
willing to wait for Cocoa support at some future, unreleased date. But
if your willing to wait, I'm certain that someone else is willing to
learn now and beat you to market. Not trying to preach or rant, but
that is the reality.

Reality is what, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved for those who try.
