FireWire CoreAudio Recognition

  • Subject: FireWire CoreAudio Recognition

I am using Core Audio to communicate with an mLan audio interface via FireWire. Everything works fine except for one problem. If I turn the FireWire device off and then back on without rebooting the computer I can no longer talk to it. The Apple System Profiler shows the FireWire device fine. Audio MIDI Setup doesn't see the device and it's not available in Core Audio. If I unplug the device FireWire cable and the plug the FireWire cable back in then the device is fully recognized and available via Core Audio.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here ? Is this a Fire Wire or Core Audio problem ? Is there any way to programatically cause the equivalent of unplugging the Fire Wire cable and plugging it back in so I can use the device ?

Thanks,

Jeff Z
