Hi Jeff,

I must be missing some information, but it occurred to me just now, wouldn't this device use that default driver in darwin if no other driver is installed? And if this were the case, wouldn't it send the AC-3 data?

You could always start with the USB Audio class driver in Darwin. It already supports AC-3 on behalf of class compliant devices that support it (that would be the type III formats in the USB Audio class spec).
