Hello Bill,

now I installed auval and it is working, including showing my new AU.

But "AudioUnitHosting" didn't and doesn't work - now I use "CocoaAUHost" and it is working fine.

Right - the AU shows up, but not the view right?

AudioUnitHosting will only show carbon views
CocoaAUHost will only show cocoa views

OK, but than the information in "http://developer.apple.com/audio/audiounits.html"; is IMO wrong, because first it's recomended to use the Coca template and later to test with AudioUnitHosting.

You can install a standalone version of auval - see developer.apple.com/audio

If your AU is not showing up, there is probably some problem with the AU... Try just building the sample effect as it is shipped in the SDK and see if that shows up first.

Hello,

this is my first post to the list, because I'm a newbie to CoreAudio Development (but I read since over half a year).

This day I tried to start with the Apple Introduction @ http:// developer.apple.com/audio/audiounits.html.

But unfortunately there ist no auval Application in my system. It should be located in /usr/bin, but isn't.
IMO Logic 7 validates the AUs at startup with auval and Logic 7 (7.0.1, german) is fully installed at my system.

Another (additional) prob is, that the application "AudioUnitHosting" doesn't work like assumed.
There is only the AU "ET1" from emagic, but not my new built component, which I copied in the global components directory where ET1 is stored, too. And it's not shown like described in the Apple Introduction, but only with the UI-Look of ET1!?
Maybe this is a sideeffect of the missing auval?

My search in the list archive didn't lead to solutions for the problems.

I would be glad, if sombody can help me.

Thanks in advice
Udo Gillich, Germany
