Try this in AU Lab - that is a more generic host app (though I'm surprised that GB isn't calling this).
GarageBand sure calls this, but it caches the results (just like Logic), so maybe that caused confusion.
If you want GB to update its cache of your AU, change your version number (or use a version number of 0 during development, it'll scan with each launch then).


To avoid such problems, I'd also support Bills suggestion of using AU Lab as main host for development, and only after it works there check the behaviour in other hosts.
