Using LAME in iPhone for MP3 Encoding

Hi All,                                                                         

I am trying to use LAME in my iPhone recording app to perform recording in Mp3 format. But it's perfomance is very low. and mu application gets hanged . So is there any way to convert the audio data using LAME on the fly with good peformance.      

Please help me in this regards.
