Title: Re: [Fed-Talk] Bzip2
Is bzip2 needed by anything? Our security folks are running Retina scans and I simply renamed the bzip2 to bzip2.bin or something like that. The system passes the security scan because Retina no longer can find it and I noticed no adverse effects on a 10.4.11 system. I’ve got serious issues with the way Retina audits the Macs, I’ve seen way too many false positives. I’ve actually written small workarounds for a lot of these things so the machines come up clean (even though there never was a problem in the first place).

Has anyone here tried manually updating Bzip2 for a 10.4.11 system? Our
security people are adamant that we have to patch Bzip up to v1.05, but the
directions at Darwin Ports (http://bzip2.darwinports.com/) refer to
non-existent directories and don't work.
Thanks!
