Alternative to appleshareip

I am the network admin. at my elementary school and we have 7 bucks left in our budget since it has been frozen, we desperatley need a file sharing solution for our 27 brand spankin' new imacs. The built in file server only allows for up to 10 users which is just a slight problem when you have 27 macs. Ive heard of linux doing filesharing on an appletalk network, but i would prefer to use a mac-based server. Any suggestions?
