In the pursuit of a list of available 802.11 networks I thought I'd

1) Does Panther use filters to search for beacon packets?
2) How much time is spent searching for beacon packets?
3) How does the filtering impact data transmission?
Apple provides an Airport SDK which provides an API to identify
available base stations and to establish a connection with these base
stations. the API does not provide access to the lower levels of the
airport driver to access the beacon packets.
If you are interested in obtaining the Airport API, please send me a
description of the product which you are designing. I will forward
the information to David Herrington, the technology manager for
airport. David would then work directly with you to obtain an NDA
agreement and to provide the API.
