Thanks Andreas
The plot thickens - If I export an XML from FCP7 the default app is set to Dashcode. If the .xml extension is removed from the file, then it gets a Color icon even though the Type is "XML " and Creator is "KeyG".
I'm seeing the same thing with a file created with TextMate, where previously that .txt file would have opened up again in TextMate is now opening up in TextEdit.
To sum up what I'm seeing:
Leopard: name=myFile.xml type="XML " creator="KeyG" opens in FCP by default
name=myFile type="XML " creator="KeyG" opens in FCP by default
Snow Leopard: name=myFile.xml type="XML " creator="KeyG" opens in default XML app by default (Dashcode for developers, some other app for end users)
name=myFile type="XML " creator="KeyG" opens in Color by default
Is this the expected behaviour?
thanks

I saw the same. I haven't had time to dive into - but an idea I had was to apply my own type/creator (maybe extension) and than tell the system to open this kind of doc with FCP. Maybe it's worth a trial. I don't know.
