As Philip said it would be great to have back the functionality which had been implemented in FCP to list/call/update Events/Projects from outside FCPX.
The problem though is that even if it would be possible most if not all parameters of effects will be reset in the XML (current version) and you can destroy a complete Project or Event in case this option would be there.
So the actual problem is to have a fcpxml version which transports parameters.
In my case working simply just with subtitles it's easy to extract the text in case there are roles, which in this case work like the obsolete tracks from the fcpxml and to replace it for translation, spell checking, grammar etc.
Importing this modified fcpxml will reset all parameters (since there are no parameters in the XML) to the defaults of the used title template -- this is obviously no fun if you got a few hundred or thousands of them.
So (again) before allowing this kind of interchange between 3rd party apps and FCPX the XML options should be updated to a state which makes more sense for a real interchange.
Latter doesn't mean only with other apps but just inside FCPX -- right now the easiest way to reset everything to default is to export fcpxml and re-import that one. Doesn't make too much sense from my point of view, but could be an option.

We're trying to automate the process for our users. And having a button inside Adobe Premiere and Avid helps us do that. We'd love to do the same for FCP, but if we can't then we can just modify the xml on disk and do it that way.
