- Thread-topic: Configurator - Apps before Profiles Problem
I use Configurator to manage 46 supervised iPads. I have a profile set to prohibit the installation and removal of apps. In order to push any new apps, I first have to remove this profile, because Configurator prevents itself (not just the device user) from installing apps. While this is frustrating, I’ve gotten used to dealing with this until now. Here is my most recent problem: I have just installed updates to some apps in iTunes and then loaded the updated versions of them in Configurator. I plugged in the laptops, de-selected my “app install restriction” profile, and clicked “Refresh” to start the profile uninstall process before loading the updated apps. Configurator immediately began – or tried – installing the apps. Of course, this failed due to the “app install restriction.” If I uncheck the apps, they will be removed from the devices along with any data linked to the apps. Of course, this happens despite the “app install [and removal] restriction.” I am not installing any new apps, just updating existing ones. Other than manually removing the profile individually on each iPad, is there ANY way to tell Configurator to install (or remove) a profile before it automatically starts with the apps??? I’m about to take an axe to the MacBook. Configurator is evil incarnate.
