Interesting! Apple definitely says that 5.2.1 isn't supported on
Panther, you need 5.2.2 for Panther. But you say you have it working
without problems?
I didn't run into any problems.
I didn't do an extensive deployment test or anything, but it was
enough for me to do some development work on.
It was 5.2.1 with Dec 2002 dev tools targeted against JDK 1.3.1. I
did have to manually move over a missing file in the 1.3.1 java lib
path for doing debugging (forget which one now).
I'm still confused though... you say that you DID run into
problems with XCode, but then you say you haven't yet tried to get
it working with Project Builder. So I'm confused under what
circumstances you say you have 5.2.1 working quite well on Panther?
Before I upgraded to XCode.
That blew everything.
I had 10.2.8 with WO 5.2.1 and Dev Tools Dec 2002.
I then upgraded to Panther.
That's when I needed the certain debug lib in the 1.3.1 path.
Things were working.
Then I upgraded to XCode.
Now I get make errors:
"/Developer/ProjectBuilder Extras/WebObjects
Support/ComputeTargetClasspath.sh: No such file or directory"
The WebObjects Support was removed when XCode was installed.
I haven't needed to fire this project back up.... so I haven't gone
further with this. However, I'm thinking if I copy back over the
WebObjects Support directory from another system, I might be able to
do WO 5.2.1 development on Panther with JDK 1.3.1.
