It's the top news subject on http://developer.apple.com/darwin/ (has
been for 2 weeks already). The tar.gz is linked from
http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/misc/
For the relation between xfree86/XonX/XDarwin, Fink's xfree86, and
Apple's X11, you might want to read this message:

by the head developer of the darwin port of xfree86.
They are actually pretty close; one of XonX/XDarwin's fathers, Greg
Parker, even has an apple.com email address (sometimes seen on this list
here).
