I really hope that this development model will percolate further throughout Apple (even if only in groups that work on open source components). Quality would be greatly increased. In a sense, I'm very glad that X11 apparently isn't considered "sexy" by most of higher management, so improvements don't have to be kept under wraps as "one more thing" for the next Stevenote at either MacWorld or WWDC.
