Well, more to the point for me... why does this happen? It certainly
shouldn't, and I've done everything I can to eliminate the message.

Sorry I missed this, but thanks for the pointer. This leads me to a question though.

Is it possible to disable launchd support for launching X11? IE is it
possible to easily go back to the old model of double-click the icon. :)

Search on the archive gives me a lot of digging and/or empty searches,
though I am sure this has been asked already!

It should probably be added to a FAQ somewhere, though.

* Running /usr/X11/X11.app instead of /Apps/Utils/X11.app will give you a simple, normal X server. You might even move the former to the latter.

The next two steps are optional:
* Adding xterm back to /usr/X11/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc (or adding it to ~/.xinitrc) will give you an xterm when you run /usr/X11/X11.app
* 'sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/ org.x.X11.plist' will prevent launchd from setting $DISPLAY.
