Righrt. I sent off that first response without thinking ti through;
were -e not doing any parsing (as documented) it should have tried to
run the entire double quoted string as an executable file. So,
something is doing parsing of the command line before passing it to
xterm.
(Has X11.app changed the way it launches entries from the applications
menu recently?)
