Now I sure would feel stupid if I but in the the sweat of porting

would be the place to find out.
Given how early it is in the game, I don't think it's likely that
anyone will be broadcasting their iPhone plans all that widely. There
is a lot of learning to do for everyone right now and it's unlikely
that anyone is so far along as to have an X server up and running. I
know that if I were an iPhone developer, I'd also be focusing my time
and attention on something likely to be flashy and/or profitable. An
X server, being part of the infrastructure, wouldn't be my first
choice. But that's just me. If you want to start getting your hands
dirty, you'll probably find yourself in rarified company and at a very
low risk of colliding with anyone else rushing to do the same thing.
No offense to Apple, but I know that there are people who actually
prefer X11 over Cocoa. They tend to be more of the Scientist type. I
suspect there is a niche market for someone who might want to run
something like GRASS GIS or some type of science program on a mobile
platform for instance.
You could be right... The wickedpsyched people seem to be largely
focusing on the client side, however, which may be a smart decision
for now.
