This may be fixed by this window level bugfix:
http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/xserver.git;a=commit;h=ef4d37c73f31048dd74efee2c63fa08b92608f87
You should try again once 2.3.2_beta2 is out.

Hey all,
I have this strange issue with the latest GIMP - things from menus
and some child-windows (not sure if that's the right name for these,
but there are mini-windows that GIMP pops up to allow you to select
modes from a drop down, for example) are shown either off my screen
or behind a tool window. The problem is that I can't move the window
out of the way to get to the mini-window underneath, and I can't see
things sometimes that are off the visible area (sometimes things pop
up halfway out of the area and I can drag them back in).
I'm not sure if this is related to X11 or if it's a GIMP bug (or
maybe even a macports port bug, but since it builds and installs
fine I think the port from macports is the cause).
Is anyone else seeing this strange behavior? Is there something I
can do to fix it?
I am running GIMP 2.6.1 compiled from Macports on a macbook pro 15"
with X 2.3.1
Thanks!
