Doug,
Add
xterm*ptySttySize: true
to work around the initial size bug. That resource tells the client
side to reset the size values after doing all the terminal
initialization, which is where the sizes are getting lost.

The biggest one I've got right now is that xterms aren't picking
up the correct size. Running resize in each new xterm seems to fix
this.
Yeah, that's a known issue with xterm. The same binary fails on SL
that works on Leopard, so there's nothing that I can really do right
now. You can just set that resource in your ~/.Xresources to work
around it for now... My "fix" for it in 2.4.1 will be to just enable
that option by default.
I guess I don't have the correct resource set. I have been using:
xterm*geometry: 80x40
This has always worked until now. The xterm *is* 80x40, but when I
edit
a file vim thinks the geometry is 80x24. Is there another resource
to set?
I also have been having some really flaky cut-buffer problems
between
X and Apple apps. Mostly cut X text doesn't get into the Apple cut-
buffer.
This code is identical to what is in 2.4.0 and I think is the same as
what's in 2.3.3.2. Please be specific and file a bug report at
http://xquartz.macosforge.org
The only known issue with the pasteboard sync is dealing with
"special" types.
Maybe it just seems that it's happening more often my SL install. It's
so random, it's difficult to submit a bug report if I can't provide a
way to duplicate it.
And lastly, I lost my cool new X server icon in the dock. ;-)
Yeah... the "OSX" version needed to keep the old X11 icon...
I thought I understood that the server and clients can be installed
separately, but I'm not sure how to do that.
Well, the package we distribute is the server and core apps and libs,
but you don't need a server on the system to install the client libs
and binaries...
That's funny. The only things I really need is a server and a xterm. I
run all of my remote xterms on the remote machine, via a ssh exec.
What's very disgraceful
(on my part) is that 95% of my X11 use is running xterms.
That pretty much goes for me, too... although I've been spending time
working on other apps to replace some apps with X11 versions (I've
got
firefox-x11 3.5.2 working in MacPorts, and I use pan for usenet,
etc).
I'll play with this some more and see if I can provide more details on
any problems. If you need someone to help test 2.4.1, let me know.
Thanks again,
Doug
