I have this problem all the time. When I initially start X and xterms it all works fine but after a while, perhaps after spawing new xterms with splat+n, the copy/paste between xterm windows and OS X applications stops. If I restart X11 then things are fine again for a while.

This became a serious problem with Snow Leopard. Leopard did not make me suffer in this way.
