We get hangs during builds if the settings for opening and closing the build window and smart groups are set incorrectly. The mantra here is now "Always, Never, Never, Never", after the four settings for the popups in that part of the preferences. When set incorrectly, the build panel remains in a "building" state, that can't be cancelled.

Just tried this tip, but didn't work for me. Project still hangs. Well, it doesn't hang as bad. As I'm typing in this e-mail, it managed to move to the next two files (I have a dual proc, so 2 modules compile at the same time).

I just nuked the XCode Prefs again and ensured to set the build window prefs as you specified. Now I'm back alive!

App still crashes when run, but at least I can go back to debugging.

Thanks!
