We get hangs during builds if the settings for opening and closing the
build window and smart groups are set incorrectly. The mantra here is
now "Always, Never, Never, Never", after the four settings for the
popups in that part of the preferences. When set incorrectly, the
build panel remains in a "building" state, that can't be cancelled.
We have an internal development doc that describes how to setup the
development environment for each machine to avoid all the various
problems that creep up, and avoiding conflicts between multiple users
on the same project.
